I'm running wow on my piece of crap Laptop right now and it really struggles in 25 man raids (I have to turn down every setting possible just to keep it around 14 fps which really screws up dps).
So ...
I've ordered the following parts and I'm trying to put together a kick ass comp
I'm out only ~$700 so far
Case: http://www.antec.com/usa/productDetails.php?lan=us&id=15900
Processor: Core 2 duo E7300 2.66 ghz processor
Ram: 4 gigs of DDR2 800 RAM Fata1ity version by OCZ
575 watt power supply
Graphics: 9800 GTX video card with 512mb onboard memory.
MSI motherboard.
Vista Ultimate
...

Any opinions?
I already have a 280 gig Maxtor 7200 rpm Hardrive that'll work and a 22 Inch wide screen, but still working out the rest of this.

i haven't looked at computer stuff since the last time i upgraded, but 575 watts seems a little low (especially if you're going to overclock). also... vista sucks for games lol

nah 575 watt power supply would be fine for OCing. The quality is more important really. Go with a name like Antec.

NVIDIA recommends a 450W+ power supply for the 9800GTX, and the E7300 CPU is a pretty low-power-using CPU so you shouldn't have a problem with any 575W PS I'd hope. Total watts on a power supply is pretty meaningless though, to really know what's going on you have to look at the max amps on each voltage rail.

Haven't had a problem with any games on Vista, although I know some get better framerates or require less RAM if used on XP instead.

The big issue with Vista is the RAM for sure; most of my games run better on Vista than on XP with 4GBs.

well, If you are comparing to xp64bit, then xp should still be better for games than vista. xp32 can't take advantage of that much ram however, which would most likely be why you saw better performance from Vista with 4gb.

Even with xp64; new games run better, and old games run around the same. Maybe it's the temperature. :P

Parts ordered, I'll be expecting them Wed-Thurs. hopefully I'll have the system completely up and running Friday because I'm going to take the day off once the parts come in.
After looking into reviews a bit more and product spec's I decided to just go all out and get a monster machine lol ... (almost 5x what I was originally gonna spend but /dance)

Current specs are looking to be:

Intel® Core™ 2 Quad Q9450 2.66GHz 12MB Cache 1333MHz FSB
Dual 1GB NVIDIA® GeForce® 9800 GX2 – Quad GPU
4GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1066MHz - 2 x 2048MB
300GB Velociraptor SATA 3.0Gb/s 10,000RPM 16MB Cache
Ageia PhysX PCI-Express Processing Unit w/ 128MB GDDR3
Needless to say I'm getting 1000 Watt supply for this thing ...

I'll be ready for any and all games for the next couple years w/this super computer. Video recording and rendering and frapsing will be godlike!
