Will be gone Wednesday the 13th -> Saturday the 16th. I included it on the app, talked with some of the officers about it a few times, and let emp know like 20 times before I even applied, so hopefully I'll still have a tag when I get back!

I'll have pictures, but they'll probably suck cause I'm goin to buy a huge ass printer. Unless you're into printer porn, or porn on a printer, it's probably of no use to you. I'll be able to make me some huge ass posters when I get my machine in though!

That's where I live. If you haven't make sure to hit up the MGM, and go buy a Fat Tuesday. You won't regret it.

Back home. Didn't get a chance to eat at the MGM. I grew up in Henderson, so we had our own set of places to go eat.

Ended up dropping $26k yesterday on equipment, bit more than I was expecting to spend, but there's about $5k in rebates. I got me a really sexy printer though, one that requires two fire extinguishers near it! I only took a few pictures while there, cause I forgot my camera the first day and pretty much made up my mind the first day after doing some research. Will post the pictures when I get em unloaded at my shop tomorrow.

DSL's actin a bit slow n shitty, I put in a service call to have them do a port reset, hopefully someone gets to it tomorrow, or I might have a bit of a robotic voice on mumble!

Well, I apparently took a lot less pictures than I thought...

Here's a picture of a concrete pillar wrap for the show. I primarily took it so I knew which material/laminate were used. The 3m stuff one was the best, I noticed some of the other brands had some issues. Doubt I'll be using it on anything, but one of the great things bout this business is you never know what the hell someone's going to want.

Here's a picture of the printer I was originally going to buy, but didn't... It's a faster and wider version of my current printer.

For comparison, here's about a year and a half old photo of me printing out a poster of our Sarth 3d kill in Conviction/Delirium:

I've lost about 30 pounds since then, and am continually balding :(

Here's some pictures of HP's booth with their massive printers:

I eventually went with this printer (some random link for the model, since I didn't get any photos of it):

I'll probably print an LK poster when I get it in or something, although the poster will probably be like 4ft x 6ft.

Do the commercial HP printers still suck up as much ink as the home models? Our printing area has an HP they use for buttons and printing little plastic fobs to attach to keychains and crap, and we had to jack up the setup charges because it goes through ink like I go through Captain Morgan on a Saturday night!

That pole wrap is pretty cool, I haven't seen anything like that in force yet. Our shirt vendor got a bunch of new equipment to print shirts on, they can do full color digital prints but it looks 100 times better than a normal silk screen. They call it "High-Def screen printing" (lol), we got some samples and it's really nice though so they can call it whatever they want I guess. Maybe they wear those High-Def sunglasses from the infomercials on the production floor to make it possible! Last time I kept up on it tonal discharge was the big thing.

Our production floor in Omaha still uses an old pad print. Some poor devil loads the items up manually and foot presses the pad onto the item, then someone else gets to repack! You should take more pictures of the shop sometime so I can see what other toys you have.

$10 before canadian and import taxes, $1,000 after! Depends on size though, would do it at cost, so probably only a couple bucks per plus shipping for like a 2ftx3ft.

The media I currently have is ok, but the stuff I'll be able to use once I get my new printer is pretty awesome, I took some notes down when I was looking over the medias at the show. I'd suggest holdin off til I get some of the sexier stuff (probably late next month).

Most home model printers only utilize 10 ml carts, which ain't much. The new printer I have utilizes 775 ml, my old roland uses either 220 or 440. The big ass ones I took photos of use 5 liter jugs. The problem with smaller printers is the printer will oftentimes go through 1 ml of each color/cart during a head clean, so if you get stuck in a bad rotation of carts, you could replace one cart, it'll do an auto head clean, run another cart out, you replace, then it does an auto head clean, and so on, before you pretty much end up back at the beginning. I ran through this with my Epson R1800 recently and got so furious I decided to just add a bulk ink system in. I went through a whole set of carts doing the stupid replacement game and the brand new first cart that ran out was at the halfway point when I was done. Having only ran Epson inks in it before, it was costing me like $12/10 ml cart, now I'm paying less than $1/10ml the bulk ink setup, and I never really have to chain clean as I'm using 220 ml jars of ink. Generally for a good production yield at lower cost, a bulk ink setup on a disposable printer, or a laser printer are the best bets.

Maybe they got a Kornit or a Brother. Hopefully they didn't get one of the cheapo modified epson's, or they'll be running into head issues :)

I'm a bit embarassed at my mess at the moment, past few months have been busier than hell, bout ready to do a big clean though and we should be slowin down. Soon as I get my new equipment in, I'll probably take a new set of shop photos.
